The grounds of the state capitol building in Salem, Oregon is one of just a handful in America that doubles as a State Park, and for very good reason! Cherry blossom trees abound, along with many other spectacular trees & blooms. It can actually be quite a challenge finding a window of time on a sunny day to enjoy them! Only lasting a few weeks, and Oregon's rainy gray skies can be quite persistent. I was fortunate to find a window, and found myself at the State Capitol, in a state of captivation, and pure bliss. I was determined to capture and convey this feeling, while also including the iconic Gold Man statue in the piece. I tried a few spots, not content with the results, until I found this "sweet spot". The familiar place where my heart swells with excitement & joy, and I've unquestionably hit the mark. I dirtied the knee of my pants, kneeling down for this hand held capture. It was a small price to pay.
Looking up, as I often do, I was fascinated by this fantastic display of light and luminosity, from the sun shining down through the tree canopy, at Minto Brown Island Park in Salem Oregon.
