Nothing particularly exceptional about this scene on this day. Just your average, beautifully, vibrantly blue Southern California sky, and vibrantly blue water. The Long Beach skyline, and hills of Rancho Palos Verdes are in the distance. My "Silky Sunset at the Pier", also in this gallery, was taken on the same day as I strolled further down the shoreline.
While walking down a stairway leading to the beach, I looked up and noticed this alignment of palms. Beautiful cloud cover on this day provided wonderful contrasts. I wanted to highlight the contrasts, so I played around in the editing process, which led to this retro-psychedelic expression.
Just hanging out on the beach this day. I was enamored with the amount of blue, and various hues presented to me, as I looked out into the ocean. This brilliant, wide streak of sparkling sun only added to the fascination. I was also happy that the signature cargo ships came into the scene. Catalina Island, and Island Freeman also visible in the image.
